I don't think I got any new official Surf this year. Shame on me! (How does
one go about getting that Bitch Boys demo CD you mentioned?!)
I did buy this...
Link Wray - Law of the Jungle: Swan Demos '64 LP
Not surf (also not great) but there are instrumentals on it and Link did
pass on this year.

I'd like to add Meshugga Beach Party's Twenty Songs of the Chosen Surfers,
released on Nov 15. It's sort-of a re-release, but with four extra songs,
so maybe it counts?

"Charlie Does Surf" was released online last December,
but the CD format version came out in January. You
should probably make categories- Best new CD, best
reissue, best compilation, best tribute. Also, I think
that voters for the Academy awards have to have
actually have seen all the movies nominated, so I
wonder how many people would qualify. And some of the
CDs nominated are just unofficial CDRs (like The
Neptunes disc mentioned- I am a huge Neptunes fan, saw
them twice this year, but never saw that CDR
available.) So if you nominate the Neptunes CDR, you
should probably also include The Madeira's awesome
demo that was circulated earlier this year. Maybe have
yet another category: Best demo CDR. I know this
voting isn't scientific, but it should also be better
than a popularity contest (in that a fantastic but
unknown release should have a shot at "Best" of the
year.)
Some more titles for the list:
Lost Legends of Surf Guitar: Shockwave
Beyond the Sea
Yours,
Ferenc

More compilations worth including:
"Evil Fuzz" (Davie Allan Tribute),
"Hair" Tribute (both on OmOm), and
"Big Wave Riders" (on Deep Eddy).

These are interesting ideas. I need clarification from everyone
though, as I don't have all of these either. If the Neptunes release
is unofficial then let's strike it or else add a CD-R demo category.
Categories...hmmmm....
