nola bands benefit cd

howlinthurstons - 14 Dec 2005 08:17:49

I found this on a forum at NOLA.com. I know some of these bands and
this CD should really rock. For $12 it cheap enough and its for a
good cause. – Dave "W"

A friend of mine is putting this together, sounds cool:Our
compilation of New Orleans bands is done and is in a new snazzy full
size cd case packaging. It's a bunch of underground bands
(alternative, punk, funk/jazz/punk, etc.) that you may or may not
have heard of, but they're all good. Here's the band listing:
The Other PlanetsThe NormalsThe ZydepunksHazard County GirlsLumpOne
Man MachineMen In BlackBurnversionA Particularly Vicious RumorDie
RotzzThe ColdWayward YouthMorning 40 FederationRotary DownsThe Tea
SeaThe RampartsEgg Yolk Jubilee
We tried to feature the more unknown side of New Orleans music (like
the New Orleans bands that used to play at Metropolis) rather than
the more established side of it (jazz, cajun, zydeco, blues). Anyway,
it's great music, and the proceeds go to charity (half to N.O.
Musicians Clinic, half to Habitat For Humanity). We've got them for
sale online ($10 + $2 shipping) here:
If you guys could pass the word on to anyone you think might be
interested, that would be cool. I'll make a better forwardable email
this weekend. Also, I sent copies of the disc to a lot of media
outlets and I was wondering if you guys could keep an eye out for if
it gets a write-up or something. Specifically, these locations:
The Ind, The Times, KRVS, The Vermilion (Lafayette)KVRX, Daily Texan
(Austin)KLSU, The Reveille (Baton Rouge)Red and Black, WUOG (Athens)
Gambit, Anti-Gravity, Offbeat (New Orleans)L Magazine, Village Voice,
Time Out NY, WKCR, WFMU, WNYU, Columbia Spectator (New York)
