Hey Brian, I'm not much of a reviewer but if you missed Freddie's
review I'll C&P it here for you. I can say it was one of the best
surf show I've been to in a while. The 3 other bands we played with
were all great especially the Nebulas who we finally got to do a show
with! We've been trying to hook up with them for a while so it was
great it worked out and was a kick ass show to boot! And the crowd
which was a good size was way into it. Again thanks to Freddie for
setting it up.

Subject: Oh man what a night at OTTO's - 4 amazing bands!
I really don't like to "review" the concert events I produce and
promote
but I gotta tell ya, last night's SURF-ROCK SHINDIG at 'OTTO's
SHRUNKEN HEAD' was totally killer
this was THE SHOW of shows
special thanks to OTTO's for letting me do this on a once-a-month
basis!
we had a great turn-out, the music went to 3:15 am (with people
screaming for more!)
So just a few words -- God bless the artists (in order of appearance)
who gave and gave to such an amazing evening:
(1)TARANTINOS/NYC
www.tarantinosmusic.com
it says on their website:
We specialize in the great crossfade between 60's-70's Surf, Soul, Spy
and Spaghetti Western that makes 90's gangsters somehow more hip, more
appealing than if they listened to actual 90's music
and indeed they delivered just that!
(2)THE ATOMIC MOSQUITOS
www.atomicmosquitos.com
These 4 dudes played a blistering set, complete with sound bites from
classic movies. I had never seen them before, although we met in
December 2004 at a SURF-ROCK SHINDIG I had put together at JAXX in
West Springfield, Virginia. Very grateful they made the journey from
the Md/D.C./Va Beltway to play for us in NYC. Intense, wondrous hyper-
surf. Just awesome.
(3) THE NEBULAS
www.thenebulas.com
Holy holy shit! Every time I see these dudes shred I cannot believe
my eyes and ears. They played a SURF-ROCK SHINDIG last yeat at 'THE
CUTTING ROOM' in NYC (with the SURFALICIOUS DUDES - talk about power
surf!). These gentlemen came down from New England to be part of this
special night in the Tiki Den of Otto's and I am also so grateful to
them for being there. Rippin' high-speed intensity - I am still
trying to come down from this.
(4) THIS SPY SURFS
www.thisspysurfs.com
What an amazing way to finish off the evening! T-99 has got to be the
coolest cat swinging a surf axe - walking all over the room on his
wireless, and in the end, the crowd begging and screaming for more.
Finally had to bring things to a close at 3:15 am! This is band ya
gotta see live to fully appreciate -- I call them "film noir surf" and
they haven't yet said I shouldn't! This is a different take on 'surf
music' but man, it works for me (and countless others who were still
at the club).
My SURF-ROCK SHINDIG has now become a once-a-month even every first
SATURDAY of every month! And I thank OTTO's for that! We're gonna
keepi building this - twang it, and they will come!
Next up is JANUARY 7 2006:
SHECKY & THE TWANGTONES, MISTER NEUTRON, COFFIN DAGGERS, VENICE BEACH
MUSCLE CLUB
members of many other bands were also in the house:
THE RETROLINERS, VENICE BEACH MUSCLE CLUB, 9TH WAVE, HOWLIN' THURSTONS
this was the scene to make
this will be the place to be each first SATURDAY of the month
as I left OTTO's close to 4 am, the snow was falling in the Big Apple,
making for a beautiful ending to a sweet evening
thanks to everyone in the Yahoo Groups who also journeyed to be there
