Re: [SurfGuitar101] Re:hal blaine does rule

TFJ (toofastjim) - 05 Dec 2005 20:55:19

that guy's on so much stuff its not funny - Elvis, The Marketts,
Challengers, Hondells, Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Byrds (Tamborine Man),
jan & Dean, Beach Boys, Rip Chords (Little Cobra), Johnny Rivers, Herb
Alpert (Lonely Bull & A Taste of Honey), Nancy Sinatra(Boots), Simon &
Garfunkel and of course, The Partridge Family.
Even if the Ventures haven't made it to the rock and roll hall of fame, at
least the drummer on The Marketts' Out of Limits is.

TFJ,
Hal definitely does rule as does Earl Palmer in the "surfy session"
model. But, while Hal played on most of the Herb Alpert/TJB cuts, "The
Lonely Bull" features none other than our man, Mel Taylor.
There's a great book called "Hal Blaine and the Wrecking Crew" that I
recommend to anyone who's interested. The list of tracks he played on
is truly astounding.
