surf-starved visitor to SF Bay area looking for live music between Dec 1st - 9th

flash0green - 01 Dec 2005 20:36:36

I am visiting the San Francisco Bay area until December 9th, and I was hoping to
attend the
Shitones show this evening at the Park Chalet. However, when I called up to get
directions, I
was informed that a private party had rented the room for the night, thus
pre-empting the
Shitones show.
Since I live in a surf-deprived city on the other coast, I would love to hear
some of my
favorite bands (Mermen, Pollo del Mar, Meshugga Beach Party) while I am here
(e.g. Mermen,
Pollo del Mar, Meshugga Beach Party, etc.), or other bands that I haven't yet
heard of.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated . . . I will gladly buy my
informant(s) a beer!
P.S. I miss Phil Dirt's show ... used to listen to it every Sat nite via
internet.

hey, Cambridge Mass is NOT THAT "surf-deprived" (I assume that's
where you are?)
I know NESMA (North East Surf Music Alliance, www.nesmasurf.org) puts
on a lot of shows in that area, home base often the KIRKLAND CAFE in
Somerville -- the CLAMS just played there as a matter of fact
I also saw LOS STRAITJACKETS at the PARADISE last December; LOS ST-
JAX are coming thru that area after you leave
have a great time!
as you said, BEACH CHALET is a great venue
POLLO DEL MAR also playing after U split
enjoy! what a great city!

keep your eye on my little site, www.catch-the-waves.com; I try and
post surf shows I hear of, or if bands send them to me; not just the
NYC tri-state where I live, but all over the US
you can always run a band's name thru www.pollstar.com too
or for North East surf, check the NESMA "Upcoming Shows" page from
time to time
they have a Xmas Party going on in Connecticut Dec 17th - with 9th
Wave, Clams, Shinto Kings

If you have time to drive to Auburn, you could check out the
Pyronauts playing at the "Festival of Lights" parade on Saturday,
Dec. 3rd. The parade begins at 5pm.
