Wild Stuff! Mosrite Clone/Special MIJ Jags @ Ishibishi Music

Gavin Ehringer (windanseabeachboy) - 25 Jan 2003 11:13:43

I was checking out the Ishibishi/Japanese Fender site and found some
intriguing stuff:
First, and Aria Guitar "The Ventures" Models, including one that looks
exactly like a Ventures Mosrite. Here's what the site said about 'em.
"For everyone who is having fun listening to the Ventures' sound and
good time rock'n'roll music! The new Ventures' Model Aria guitars,
which Aria has been working on with THE Ventures, are now available
through Ishibashi WEB Shop Intl.! Including a "Mosrite-style" Aria
guitar also."
However, the Mosrite clone is very pricey.
Second, they have a Jaguar model that has some unusual soapbar-type
pickups ("Dragsters") for 60,000 yen! (If you don't know yen, that's
about $530). With shipping, money transfer, etc., it works out to
about $675.
Finally, they have these special-edition Jags with matching
headstocks, black chrome hardware, and the Dragster pups for about
$575. The sunburst model even has a sunburst headstock!
I couldn't furnish the URL, but if you search enough, you should be
able to navigate your way to these unusual beauties!
Best, Gavin

If you search the archives, I posted an email I got from someone at
Aria guitars about those Ventures Mosrite clones. They would only
ship to the US if we could get like 6-12 guitars ordered. And then
they would be about $3000 a piece. Yikes!

Actually, that was the point. Ishibashi will sell an individual Aria
Mosrite clone (or any of the Japanese Special Fender Jags, JMs or
Mustangs) and ship it to your front door. That's why I thought this
was such a find.
Here's what they sent me when I asked if you could buy an Aria Mosrite
Clone directly from Ishibashi:
Dear Gavin,
Thank you for your e-mail. This is Koichi from Ishibashi WEB SHOP.
Yes, we ship your order to your home door in the USA. For example, to
ship 1x electric guitar with hardcase cost 16000 Yen and this includes
the insurance fee too. Shipping time is 1 week or less after the
payment is completed. If you have question, please let me know.
Thank you very much.
Best regards,

That's exactly how I bought my 62 Jazz Bass Reissue. There was no option for
Sonic Blue in the US so I went the Ishibashi route. I gave them my credit
card number on Monday and I was playing it on Friday. Awesome.
But, I'd recommend you get a hard shell case. The gig bag is a joke. I ended
up throwing mine away it was so awful. But they did a very good job
packing...
