Dick Dale's 16mm film

Kim Sweeney (swamikim) - 29 Nov 2005 15:32:12

Aloha,
We have several people on this site that are established
Surf Writers and Historians, with their credentials and
Contacts maybe they could:
1. DD himself (especially the gentlemen who have
already interviewed him at his home!) He might not LIKE
his old recordings, BUT I bet he still has a copy of the
film in his closet.
2. The Surf Museum in Huntington Beach (or Newport?).
3. Put a call out to all the "Surf" collectors on one of their
websites, these guys collect everything!
An old Wardy Surfboard decal goes for like $75. Vintage boards
Go for the price of a small used car...
4. The Archivist it Capital Records.
5. Contact Radio Station enthusiasts, they might have a copy.
(KRLA KFWB)
6. Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce and/or Historical Society.
7. Put a call out to Independent film makers, the guy who shot the
original film might be an email away!
8. Contact Lloyd Thaxton, he was a great Surf promoter from back in
those
days. He might have a lead.
I know they have already been down some of these avenues,
These are just a few ideas off the top of my head.
Laters!
Kim
