At last: Offcial Fender Surf Guitars !

lookdenfer - 19 Jan 2003 03:39:43

The Custom shop had a very cool surprise at Namm in the shape of a trio of true
Fender Surf guitars!
Built by Master builder Dennis Galuszka, they are made out of alder with a true
surfboard balsa face. Since most people do not use the rythm controls anyway,
Dennis decided to simply the Jag to make it visually cleaner as you can see on
the pics. The strap is true surfboard cord and the Jag plays fantastic with
ultra low action.
He told me he would be really interested in making a series of such Jags if
enough people are interested. The price is fairly high of course since it is
very labor intensive. He estimates that this particular one would be at the
same price as most master built guitars, ie around $6,000. But if a number of
orders came in, the price would go down obviously. Anyone interested?
The case is also a custom shop creation of course, to go with the new "Fender
Surf Guitars" logo that Dennis also designed.

Those guitars are phenomenal! I would love that P-Bass but at 6 G's,
it's a little out of my range. I might be able to scrape up $1500-2000
but that's about it. (I don't need to eat lunch for the rest of my life
anyway...some things are more important)
Thanks for the awesome pics!

Looks weird seeing Dick Dale with a guitar like that…
no skulls, no flames…?
