Fender Amps

Brian Neal (xarxas) - 17 Jan 2003 19:19:04

Hey!
Since we were talking about amps recently, do any of you guys have opinions
on the following amps:
'65 Twin Reverb Reissue
Super Reverb Reissue 4x10"
Vibrolux Reverb Reissue
And whats the deal on those "red knob" Showmans from the late 80's/early
90's? Do they have anything in common with their 60's ancestors?
And Mel, I am pretty sure Ivan from The Space Cossacks had one of those
Custom Vibrosonic's that were only around for a couple of years in the mid
90's that you were talking about. I think they were originally marketed to
pedal steel players! The Fender Field guide lists those at 100 Watts.
Thanks,
BN

I spent about an hour with the custom vibrolux reverb in shops last
summer. I really wanted to like it because Los straitjackets use VRs.
Nice tone, but very weak reverb. Full up reverb is like "3" on my 65
deluxe reverb re-ish. Did not seem like it got significantly louder
than the DRRI either. It's probably great with an outboard tank
though.
best

Thanks Dan. I've been wanting to try one of those out too. I have heard they
hiss a bit louder than other Fender amps. Did you notice that?
I've seen Los Straitjackets 3 times now, and Danny has had a vintage
Vibrolux Reverb and Eddie had a silver face Vibrosonic Reverb (with the 15"
speaker).

I did not notice if it was particularly noisy or not.
I can't wait to see the new custom vibroverb reviews start rolling in
(or better yet, find one in a shop myself)
