I'm keen to have a listen to a version of "Surfrider" with just guitars
(the one in "Pulp Fiction" has a sax as well) so I can hear what
they're doing.
I know the Ventures do it too, but I haven't tracked down their CD yet.
Any other ideas ? Do any contemporary surf groups do a good version ?
Thanks,
Geoff
The Ventures did the original version, called "Spudnic" (yes spuD) on
their "Mashed Potatoes and Gravy" LP, later renamed, "Going to a
Ventures Beach Party". It was later rereleased on their "Surfing with
the Ventures" LP as Surfrider. There is a fairly recent video of the
Ventures playing it here:
and if you want to go to the bottom of the food chain ;-) I have a
humble mp3 of me playing it on my web page (see my signature at the
bottom of this page).
