Yahoo Question...Sorry, No Group Content

Jeff Riedle (stretchriedle) - 14 Nov 2005 17:13:03

Question for all of you in Yahoo land...within the past 10 days I've been
bounced off Yahoo at least 4 times. They stop sending me my email (which is
where I get all my discussion group email from, including this group), and I
have to manually go there and reactivate my email address. I HAVE NOT
changed my email address recently. Today, to try and clear things up, I
changed my password.
Anyone have this problem, and know why this is happening? It's VERY annoying
not to get email for a few days, then realize that it was turned off without
my knowledge. Then I have to go back to several groups and look at all the
recent emails to catch up.
Contacting them direct doesn't produce an answer.
Thanks,
Jeff "Stretch" Riedle

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago - you just need to go into
your account and reset your email address.

Phil,
Yeah, that's what I do, but its a pain in the ass to have to keep doing it.
The hassle is going back to retrieve all the messages I DIDN'T get. I'm on
11 groups.
I changed my password, we'll see if that helps.
Thanks,
Stretch

Stretch....if Yahoo tries to deliver email to you and your service
provider rejects it for whatever reason, you get put on a "bouncing
members" list. Yahoo will then periodically try to reactivate you, but
it may be slow about it.
I can suggest:
1) If you really like your current service provider, but it's having
issues, temporarily disable email delivery and read the groups via the
web only until the problem goes away. Of course it's hard to know when
the problem has gone away.
2) Use a Yahoo/Google/Netscape email address as your email delivery
address. Chances are it won't bounce as much as maybe cruzio.com or
whatever.
Let me know if you continue to have problems (off-list).
Thanks,
BN
PS
If you or anyone wants a Google mail account, send me an email off-
list and I can send you an invite. You get 2 GB of space, a cool spell
checker, and threaded conversations...and a lot more. It rocks.

I've had this happen a couple of times: it sucked: once when we were on tour
in California and once when we were over in Europe. The first indication is
an eerie silence in my list folders in my Inbox...

Jeff,
> [Yahoo has gone bonkers!]
Sorry, but this hasn't ever happened to me, so I
have no advice to give you on how to make Yahoo
behave itself. <g>

Alternatively, you could just leave the groups set
to email, and use the web to read the groups anyway.
When everything is back to normal, you'll know it
the next time you look in your inbox.
You may not receive in your inbox some of those
messages that you read during the "down" time, but
if you need a copy to keep for yourself, you can
always go back to the web, find 'em again, and
cut-and-paste them into your own archive.
