re: not quite about Dean Markley strings

unlunf - 14 Nov 2005 11:57:45

Brian,
(In open discussion, anyone should feel free to join in....)
> You always put grins at the end of every sentence!

A habit I got into early on, for what I thought were
good reasons. I guess it's time to re-examine that
idea, eh? But now that you mention it, whether it be
smilies, emoticons or whatever, I do notice a distinct
lack of same in this particular group. The question
then becomes, should I take this as a sign that every
one here is so serious about what he or she is stating,
or should I just chalk it up to ordinarly laziness?
<should I grin here, or not?>
> Why you would bother to say, under these conditions,

Because that's exactly what has happened several times
already. The first time it was on-group, the next ones
were in PM's. And those were only the 'direct' rebukes.
Others have been made, but were much more subtle.... one
of them was even pretty classy.
> Are we that nasty here? :-)
You're asking my impression? I'd use the phrase, "Some
members here are less open-minded than I might desire".
And before anybody gets the idea that I should just
quit and go away, let me repeat what I said to Brian
earlier, privately: I do like it here, there are lots
of good ideas, more than a few people who are interesting,
and even with the rough spots at the start (for which
I hope I've apologized), I still think that this is
the right place to be. Besides, I am not a quitter.
And that -is- a grinning matter. <g>
The rest of this discussion is more to the technical
side, so I'll take that up in a separate message.
Thank you one and all for getting this far along with
me. This is not my first group by any means, so I can
say with confidence that in time, we'll all come to see
things with much more panache.
