IMO, these guys and a gal are much better than their fellow countrymen
the Surf Coasters. Check out the website below for short soundclips:

Wow, me like and agree! I missed this one the first time around,
thanks Klas.

That's a really fun album, although the other album that line-up cut is
much better. (Though the production isn't quite as good.)

I agree with you too Klas, these guys are excellent! Thanks for
turning me on to them.
Did you check the gear pages? The Fender Jaguar; "Does a Japanese
turn because it is a short scale..." That's hilarious.

Since I'm on a roll posting replies to posts today, I'll jump in on this one
too...
I really wish there was more information available on this band. There was
an article somewhere I read...it was an interview...I can't remember if it
was in The Continental, or online, or wherever...but the questions were
compiled, crudely translated, and sent to the band. The band answered the
questions, it was crudely re-tranlated back into english, and it basically
read like this:
"All your base are belong to us. Someone set up us the bomb. We get signal."
I'm kidding of course, but with regards to surf music, IMHO their song "Echo
Rocket 66" or "Rocket Echo 66" (yeah I rule) whatever it is...is THE WAY a
surf recording should sound. It's basically the benchmark I use whenever The
Nebulas record something new. Not that we've been able to achieve that hot
of a signal to tape, but dammit, we're workin' on it. Beautiful execution of
tambourine useage too.

The sound is definately there, but musically I wouldn't say that they are better
than the Surf Coasters. The Royal Fingers seem to be very 12 bar oriented.

By "better" I didn't mean technical playing skills or complexity of
the music. To me, the most important features are sound, style and
songs and IMO, the Royal Fingers are "better" than the Surf Coasters
in all these areas.
