Hanukah songs

stevergtr - 08 Nov 2005 21:50:43

I'm hoping some one out there can help me out. We were asked to do a
high paying corporate Christmas party in December. We know about 6 X-
mas tunes we pull out from year-to-year, but the dude hiring us asked
us to do a couple Hanukah songs. I'm a non-practicing agnostic so this
is outta my league. I'm hoping someone can give me some suggestions.
Does anyone out there know or have done any instro versions of Hanukah
songs. Is it possible?

Tooting my own horn here, but there are lots of Jewish melodies that make
great surf songs - check out my group Meshugga Beach Party -
We recorded "Dreidel, Dreidel", "Hanukkah, oh Hanukkah", and "Maoz Tsur"
Here's a link to some Jewish midi files:

Ran Mosessco (kick_the_reverb) - 09 Nov 2005 00:22:44

Three titles that you might want to look for (very suitable for surf):
Yemey HaHanukah (Hanukah Days or as titled in Meshugga Beach Party - Oh
Hanukkah)
Maoz Tsur (titled in MBP as Ma Otsur)
Ner Lee Dakik (translates to something like "I have a slender candle" haha)
Sorry I can't provide audio links, but if you find these, you'll figure them
out in no time, and they work great as surf songs.
Good luck,
Ran

By all means, pick up Mel's "Messhugga Beach Party". Phenominal
doesn't begin to describe it. It will give you plenty of ammunition
for the gig. (Mel, when are you and the rabbis gonna gig again???)

Please forgive me guys as I haven't been through all the postings on this one,
but I kind of remember seeing a "Surf CD of Jewish Songs" listed on E-bay
several months back...did anyone else spot this, and was it for real? I almost
ordered it, and as I remember, the cover art was pretty far out........ed

Hey Mel -
That's a great CD. I bought a couple off your web site a while back,
one for me and one for my nephew. When the Meshugga Beach Party
Release 2 comes out, do we get an upgrade discount ;-) ???
