Terauchi Takeshi and the Blue Jeans and Bunnys MP3s and Info

Jacob Dobner (jacobdobner) - 08 Nov 2005 16:18:46

Here is an awesome player I am getting into.
Above is all I have been really able to find about him. I really want
to learn more but I am sure there isn't much information not in
Japanese out there.
Below are some mp3s
Note that tracklisting isn't correct, or so somebody states. I haven't
downloaded these mp3s since I have a CD with them on them. You won't
be dissapointed if they are the same thing.
Selling 100,000 copies in Japan is a lot of copies. Too bad he isn't
well known in the US. I really like his playing style and think that I
could put up with some bands that had him as an influence. Maybe they
do and I don't watch enough MTV.

WFMU has no legal right to make those mp3's available.

Terauchi Tekashi a long way from obscure. There is a lot of info on the
web about him and his various groups. Most of their releases are
currently and legally in print. Try jpophelp.com and amazon.com

Quite a few of the IMO best Takeshi Terauchi CD album reissues are
now out of print. I've managed to win some used on eBay and also got
some from Japanese Amazon while they were still in print. Another
great mid '60s Japanese guitarist to check out is Yuzo Kayama:

Part of the problem is that not only is there an insane amount of Terry albums
available, but also that in many cases the tracklists are only in Japanese.
There's a whole bunch on Amazon, eBay, etc., to say nothing of the Japanese
import sites, but in many cases it's impossible to tell if they're early instro
(very good), early vocal (bad) or recent vocal (really unspeakably bad). The
cover art doesn't always give that away, since it seems like a majority of them
are him holding a Mosrite on a beach.
His quality control went waaaaaaaay downhill after the GS craze took over.
Though I guess with several hundred albums they all can't be winners.

I won't spend $30 on a CD if I don't know if I am going to get GS or
Eleki. I really wish Japan didn't have their music industry set up the
way they do. Too many people get a cut of the money and that just
raises the prices. On all the old LP covers you can see a price of
1500 yen which is about what a CD should cost in a US store circa
2005. Some places you pay more but I am talking a Best Buy not a Tower
Records.

Hi all, a good source for everthing related to eleki [shops, mp3s
etc.], is the Republic of Eleki site -->
A good sampler to start is ELEKI WAKADAI SHOW [one million dollar
records]. The Space Agency/Simon jones also featured some Eleki tunes
on their releases.
