you guys talking about bridges and these prices... have any of you considered
going to a
local machine shop, and talking to the guys? They get off on milling metal like
you do
reverb, so a little side project to make a quick $25-50 on a piece of scrap
metal (to them)
is a walk in the park. Just give them an old block, tell them the mods you want,
and come
back in a week.
Sometimes you'll find an old bored guy who yearns to get away from his CNC and
back to the
Bridgeport, and he'll do it for free. Offer him a case of beer or something, you
never know
till you ask, and asking is definitely free.
My brother worked at a machine shop and once fashioned a bridge needed for
the bass on a double neck Mosrite Bass / 12 I had. His bridge worked nicely
but that was 20 years ago. Today, with all the internet resources, it's much
easier to get just what ya need.
