Re: Jazzmaster/Jaguar Saddles

Jacob Dobner (jacobdobner) - 07 Nov 2005 13:11:02

My buddy had the same problem, only they wouldn't fit on a MIJ, or AV
for that matter.
I do not envy you guys. All my Jags don't have problems with the
strings popping out.

I have the GraphTech saddles on a couple of guitars,
and they seem to work OK. They are the smaller width,
like a Mustang import bridge, and because they are
smaller they can correct their positioning for
straighter string pull. The sound is good, though I
haven't got real crazy cross-comparing. One thing they
ocaisionally do when I'm restringing is they alow the
bridge to be pulled forward towards the headstock.
That proves that they have reduced the amount of
friction against the strings. This has not been a
problem, though. I used them on the last Euro tour,
and they worked fine. I use that Nut Sauce , too.
I had some brass saddles made, and those are nice
under the plain strings to mellow them a bit. I have
tried, a Mustang bridge and I did not like the tone.
I think the "cups" that the bridge sits in effect the
tonality. Fred Stuart, former Custom Shop MB,
suggested I replace all Japenese cups with USA because
the metal on the USA will provide a better sound. And
also, use USA bridges on Japan Jags.
