Ok, someone had mentioned this earlier and so I went
on eBay and looked for one. Someone was trying to
sell one that he's supposedly used for one month in
his band for $485 in Daphne blue in good condition. I
got in touch with him after the auction and made an
offer of $400, which he's willing to take. What do
you guys think? This seems like one of those guitars
that's probably not going to hold a real high resale
value but they haven't been around long and this is
the first used one I've seen.

IMHO,
Considering MF is selling them for $529 new, $400 doesn't seem too
bad....then again, it's almost halfway to a real Jaguar...
Of course NAMM is this week. Who knows what Fender will roll out (or
discontinue)...

I had thought about that, but I'd be stretching to get
$400 for this one, and I can't imagine I'd be doing
any upgrading. The pickups are (I'm told at least)
American RI Jag pickups. It'd be atleast twice that
amount to get me a used RI Jaguar and I'd spend almost
that much on a MIJ and buying new PUPs. My only
reservation is seeing a few more used ones come up in
the next few months and finding out that the used
market value of these isn't nearly as high as what I'm
about to pay. The original Cyclones barely sell for
half their retail at times. I was just thinking the
Cyclone II would be a really cool, surfy and not too
common guitar to have.

Hey Richard,
$400 doesn't seem too bad and the Cyclone II seems like a nifty little
guitar. I can tell you that I like those American RI Jag pickups...they are
nice.
However, I would be very hesitant to make an "off-Ebay" deal with a guy with
a feedback rating of 2. If you really want to do it, have the guy re-list
the item with a $400 minimum or buy-it now price. At least then Ebay can get
involved if things go sour.
Whoops, I just clicked on his feedback, and he's got a negative
comment.....!
I almost got burned once doing one of those off-Ebay deals. Luckily I
canceled the money order just in time (it had already been sent out).
Good luck. I too would wait for NAMM and see what rolls out. You may be
kicking yourself, you never know.

Well our agreed wait-time is two weeks, so I'll have
plenty of time to see what happens at NAMM before
anything happens. That's probably a good idea about
getting him to relist the item with a BuyItNow price
though. I'm not going to take the dive yet, but I'm
seriously thinking about it and hoarding my dollars.
Are there any murmurings of anything coming out at
NAMM?

No way! That would be sweet, how come I haven't seen
that? I'm on the FDP all the time though not on the
bass forum so much anymore, my handle is surfpunk.
What moniker do you go by Phil?
