Ultimate surf saxman passes on? (was The Surfaris in Berlin)

unlunf - 28 Oct 2005 14:31:45

WHAT?!?!?! Jim Pash is no longer with us???? Say it ain't so!!
Man, that really saddens me. Even though this is a guitar
oriented list, it's about surf music, right? And J.P. had
as much or more passion in his chops as probably half of all
the surf guitarists who ever got recorded. I could go on
waxing enthusastic, but that'd just be gilding the lillie.
It's enough to say that I, for one, mourn his passing.
RIP Jim, you've earned it.

Was Jim ever recorded as a guitarist? He was sax on the old Surfaries records.

Jim Pash played guitar on many-most of the Surfaris sessions beyond
1980. Fuller was only playing bass until the last couple of years, and
Johnson played rhythm except on "Moto" and a couple of others. Jim also
played guitar as they moved away from surf - their folk-rock output for
instance. And it is his brand new 12-sting on "Storm Surf."
