Theremin-kits available?

Bernhard Lipinski (markeywest) - 06 Jan 2003 05:55:17

Hi!
Saw an ad on LastGasps Theremin - nice little toy, but the price...
Someone said Moog sold Theremin-kits decades ago.
Does anyone know if there's still kits available (distributors
preferably in Germany/Western Europe)?
Regards,
Bernie

Moog still makes Theremin kits, they cost about $350 already
assembled, even cheaper unassembled. It's no toy, it's a serious pro-
grade instrument, but very difficult to play properly. The Moog
company is called BigBriar, and you can buy them off of their
website. They will ship
anywhere.

A couple years ago I was planning to build one - there are a number
of cool Internet sites with plans & schematics. I think you can
easily do it with basic electronics/soldering skills.
This place has a nice looking kit for under US$100 . . .
The Theramin Enthusiasts Club International (TECI) has a cool site:
If you want, you can even build a tube theramin (ooooh!) . . .
I acquired most of the parts, but never built the thing - you may
have me started on my next electronics project! Good luck!
