Pretty simple and standard set-up. SM-57>M-Audio Firewire 410>GarageBand.
The lead was a Dano baritone>Fender reverb>'64 Showman.
Rhythm was Mosrite (dry) same amp.
Dano bass was direct w/ amp sim.
Drums were 57 on the snare and an MXL pencil condensor behind and above me.
Also I ran two crappy Radio Shack mics, one stuck in the kick drum the other
inside the
rack tom, into the reverb tank then into the Showman, then cranked the amp up to
add
some ambiance. Only two mic inputs makes it somewhat difficult to get a good
drum
sound. I live in a small neighborhood so I don't have a lot of time to play
with different
mic settings. If I record the guitars loud , I'll cover the amp with a blanket.
I heard your guitar samples and thought the mic'ed was the best sounding. Even
the other
samples didn't sound bad. I know its hard sometimes to be satisfied, especially
when you
hear someone elses killer and inspiring sounds.
joe
p.s. Oh, the crows were sampled from the movie Jeepers Creepers and the bell
sound was
made from hitting a a big wind chime with a hammer and dropping the pitch and
adding
matrix reverb, cathedral setting.
