WR, Neal, All:
WR, yes, great tip about books on recording.
Neal, you might want to consider reading a few issues
or subscribing to "Recording" magazine or "Electronic
Musician" magazine. SOS (SoundOnSound) magazine from
the UK is also a great magazine, though a little
pricey on these shores due to the strong quid/weak
buck ratio.
The info presented in these mags can help anyone get
professional results recording their axe. It also
makes for great (read, productive!) reading in the
loo...don't laugh, I know a few software engineers who
honed their 'C' programming skills with this
"method"....

and here's the best tip: buy a book on recording.
Amazon has a bunch,
for less then what a decent 12ax7 costs, and they'll
do more for your
recording then any piece of equipment. I bought 'home
recording for
dummies' a while back, and as crude and entry level as
it is, it
helped me understand so much about what the F i was
trying to do.
maybe someone has better suggestions for books.
thanks for posting, let's keep this thread going for
those
interested,
WR
