I searched the messages because I know this has been discussed a
thousand times but I couldn't find the right answer. I have a set of
Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups on order. Do I need anything else to
complete the vintage sound mod such as pots etc? Thanks!
Ralph
And thanks for everyones help with the 1485 Silvertone tips! I got a
lot of great info out of that!
No, not really. However here is a mod I use on all my Jazzmasters and it's
quick, easy and reverseable should you not like it.....Jazzmasters will go from
a nice clean sound to mud as soon as you back off the volume pot in stock
form.....Jazzmasters use a 1 meg pot. What I do is to put a 1 meg resistor from
the outside terminal to ground and add a 1000 pico farad ceramic cap across the
the outside terminal and wiper termial. This mod gives a smooth fade and
doesn't loose the highs as you back off the volume control....the down side is a
thin sound at VERY low volume control settings.....for me the advantage is huge
compared to the drawbacks and you can get this hardwar at any Radio
Shack.......big time fun......try it......Eddie K
