Thanks for the reply Bob. What prompted you to abandon the speakers
in your Dual Pro and use the Bandmaster cabinet?
Thanks,
BN

2 reasons:
1. tone - a closed cab sounds way better to my ears for surf. deeper,
fuller, more projection. for me, the ultimate would be a Showman
single 15 (I had one in the 60's). the "tone ring" is basically a
ported cab and for me this provides some nice depth and warmth and I
prefer it to a infinite baffle Dual Showman although the Dual has more
volume capability.
2. weight - a dual pro loaded with the original V30's is very heavy.
put in some JBL's or EVM's and and it becomes almost unmovable. my
mid 60's Bandmaster cab (infinite baffle)loaded with a JBL and an EVM
is lighter than the Dual Pro with V30's. the Dual Pro without any
speakers is pretty heavy as it is.
I am considering having a 1 - 15 cab built out of Italian Poplar
plywood (supposedly 1/3 the weight of Birch) to JBL specs and will
load it with a D130. Black Face cosmetics. So far it's just a
concept....
you can see my bandmaster cab in the photos on the site. that's Dick
Dale's rig behind us.
