If I had to nominate an album from out of left field that would
be inspirational in this genre, I'd have to close my ears to the
whole Ventures versus surf thing, and offer up their album
Ventures in Space. Experiment In Terror, He Never Came Back,
Fear.... Now those guys could make you look over your shoulder!
Maybe not eponymous, but certainly ahead of its time. Possibly
a subliminal inspiration to many later acts. <g>

I almost mentioned this one too, but was trying to keep it short, plus
I had already opened the Pacific NW can of worms once with the
Wailers and that leads to nothing but trouble! :)

Ted,
Oh, no worries about canned worms, my friend! <lol> One thing we
all have to remember is that, even though some of us here were
present for the first go-round, that doesn't mean that our memories
are perfect - I'm a good example of that!! <sheepish grin> That
means there can't be any trouble, only a lot of conjecture. It
would seem that as soon as flamers (like one we all know and love
to hate at the moment <*cough, cough, ahem*>) settle down, the flow
of ideas and memories really sparks a lot of new ideas.
