ANOTHER REALLY NICE REVIEW on RIDE THE FIRST WAVE

robi biloderic (bitchboysi) - 18 Oct 2005 06:17:35

hello !!
here's another super review...
ciao to all of you!!
yours Robi
'Seems I've written this column this long without ever writing about
instrumental surf music nor the company whose president calls it "America's
premier independent label". To rectify this omission on both accounts, I present
you with The Bitch Boys Ride The First Wave (Golly Gee). The Slovenian (!!)
quartet's ninth (!) release and debut for Golly Gee consists of mostly covers of
ultra-obscure surf rock classics, but the occasional original and classical and
folk adaptations sneak by in this 30-track (!!!) collection. Combining the
reverb tremolo of the genre's first '50s-'60s wave with the extra kick of the
punk-associated '70s-'80s surf revival melds mellifluously with the band's own
Eastern European melodic influences. This stuff so rocks, even if their name
mystifies me some (a rip on The Beach Boys singing about surfing without ever
having done it, a predisposition for American vulgarity, or what?!). The 'Boys
may not be able to hang ten where they live, but they can hang out on
my stereo if they keep releasing music this mesmerizing. (learn more), (learn
even more).
