Hey there Brian!
How much were they asking for the Showman head?
Might be worth it to get the head [$300-$500](and argue the guy down: say
"This thing is worthless without the original matching cab!...AND I'll have
to have it retubed and biased!")... and go have it retubed and biased
[$65-$100].
Then, have a cab made to the same specs as the original sealed 1x15 cab
[$200-$300], get a metal tone ring [$65] () and get
a vintage D130F off of Ebay [$125-$200].
The potential exists to get a near perfect Blackface 1x15 Showman setup
for less than a grand if you're patient.
So how much WAS that head?

Hey Dano!
I can just hear that car door slamming as Brian jumps back into his car to
head back to that store . . . a very convincing argument for some Holiday
GAS!
BTW, have you guys seen this site?
Nothing I'd run out and buy, mind you ($$$$$), but some really nice pics of
their reverb tank crafted after the Hammond Organ tank (hmmm . . . ). If
you want to drool over some nice point-to-point wiring (and beautiful
hardwoods), check this out!
Happy Holidays to everyone out there!

Hey Dano,
Well the reason I didn't jump all over the Showman head and Reverb Unit was
the price. They were being sold on consignment. They wanted $650 for the
Showman head and $575 for the Reverb Unit. I thought these were both a bit
steep compared to what I see on E-Bay. I would definitely try to haggle
those down if I was interested.
I'm struggling with trying to put together some kind of Showman (Dual or
Single) head/cabinet pair by scouring Ebay (which takes lots of time and
patience and may involve getting things built separately like you mention)
or just going out and buying a Fender Dual Professional. Thoughts anyone?
Thanks,
BN

I have a Dual Professional and like it a lot. However, I don't think
it's that much better than a Silver Face (or Black Face of course)Twin
Reverb. Yes, you can get more flexibilty out of the "three knob"
reverb on the DP, it has an effects loop and the vibrato is waaaaaay
better. But those Twins Sound really good.....especially thru a
closed back cab. I carry my DP around with no spkrs in it and use a
Bandamaster cab with one K120 and one EVM12.
