Beatniks/Wild Guitar DVD

mattcrunk - 14 Oct 2005 12:19:21

Just something that I though might be of interest to this list . . .
I picked up a "Double Feature" DVD of the cheesy 60s films The Beatniks and
Wild Guitar for $1 (yes, a dollar) at my local Wal-Mart the other day.
Watched a little bit of Wild Guitar this morning. Very cheesy surf style
soundtrack. Certainly worth a buck just for the laugh.

I think the "Wild Guitar" movie is great! Arch both plays a 50's
Danelectro (with removed headstock logo?) and later in the film a
Jazzmaster. Anyone interested in Arch Hall Jr's musical side should
check out the recent compilation out on Norton Records.

If they ever maker a biopic of Arch Hall Jr., I think he should be
played by Evan Foster of the Boss Martians. The first couple of times
we played with them (back when they were a surf band) we refused to
call him Evan, we just called him Arch Hall Jr. The likeness was/is
uncanny. Put a feather in your hair and dance!

Ha-ha...I saw Arch Hall Jr. in the movie Ee-gah when it was satirized
by the Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew...he was awful in that movie!
Here is a pic:
