Easy to play surf music...

windanseabeachboy - 22 Dec 2002 03:28:50

I am learning surf, and here's a few I found quite easy to learn:
Pipeline by The Chantals is easy and familiar; Mr. Moto by The
Belairs; Walk Don't Run (the first song learned by both Eddie Van
Halen and Ryder Sighs of Nashville Pussy), Misirlou as done by Dick
Dale is good for learning tremelo picking, essential for Dick Dale
style surf. The melody is played entirely on the upper and lower E
strings!
The stuff by The Sandals, who did the soundtrack for The Endless
Summer, is pretty easy, too, with lots of strumming. It's kinda folky
and not too surfy, tho.
Generally, the first wave surf tunes (1960-64) tend to be easier than
the later stuff from the 80s-90s.
