Beyond "Beyond the Sea"

Cordelia (jimdpie) - 12 Oct 2005 05:05:00

Hello,
I'm starting to think about a follow up to the Cordelia Records "Beyond the
Sea" covers comp. (if you haven't seen it go here:
- also see this new review: ).
"Beyond the Sea" has been pretty well received although a few people
commented that some of the tunes selected by the bands involved might have
been more adventurous - which was the original intention of the project.
With that in mind I've been looking for a way of tightening up the entrance
requirements of the next CD.
What do you think of doing "hit records from 1990 onwards"? Anybody got a
better idea?
The deadline will be next summer so there's plenty of time to think about
it.
Or we could do a Grateful Dead tribute.

Hello,
So this is the official announcement of next years surf intrumental covers
comp' on Cordelia Records. You may remember the "Beyond the Sea" CD? -
HYPERLINK
""
.stayfree.co.uk/Pages/Beyond%20the%20Sea.htm - well this is going to be like
that but with the entrance criteria adjusted slightly to keep the content
more contemporary. To be on this one you have to record a surf instrumental
that is a cover version of a hit record made since 1990. It's supposed be
like what The Ventures used to do in the '60s.
There's a page at HYPERLINK
""www.cordelia-records.co.uk (click
on - The next "Beyond the Sea" CD - ) with all the technical details. A list
of contributors and exactly what they're up to will be added here soon.
Please alert me to anything on there that doesn't make sense or otherwise
makes me look stupid.
