Since you are the biggest Ventures Fan I know of, but also have a
surf band. Please explain to this guy the difference
between surf, and the Ventures instro music.

Sounds like you've been listening to a lot of good music, MC! The Ventures and
Shadows are technically instro bands that were major influences on surf bands.
The Ventures didn't use enough reverb. They wrote and covered many more non-surf
numbers, BUT there are plenty of Ventures album covers that market them as a
surf band so it's easy to see why much of the public thinks of them that way.
The Ventures themselves will tell you they are not a surf band or at least not
primarily a surf band. The Surfaries, on the other hand, used a lotta reverb and
initially did mostly surf themed tunes.
