Clean Bill of Health (Sept/Oct issue of TLM)

Dick Stewart (rvstewartproductions) - 24 Sep 2005 14:05:36

Compadres,
Many of you already know that I had a triple bypass on
the last day of August. Well, I'm happy to report that
my surgeon last Wednesday said that he was very happy
with my progress, and that I'm healing at a rapid
pace. (Larry Thompson, drummer for Bobby Fuller Drive,
told me once that "Old guys rule," and I've been
keeping that thought firmly in mind since the
surgery.)
Anyway, so that I can have another month to heal, I'm
carrying the Sept issue into October with little or no
changes. November will have new postings and the
featured story will be Charles "Chas" Pike's take and
summary of the Clovis Fest that was held the first
weekend of September. (My wife, Judi and I had really
been looking forward to attending this event.)
But those of you who have not checked out this month's
issue of TLM, please do. I'm certain you'll enjoy
reading the featured interview with highly regarded
saxophonist, Jim Thompson. And those of you who have
already read this interview, check it out again,
because the complete issue has been re-edited and
posted for a much nicer look (thanks a ton to my son,
Jason, who does the TLM postings).
IN THIS ISSUE (SEPT/OCT): - Up Close with Jim Thompson
(A monster on the horn”); Rock Drummer Was a Founder
of The Knights (“He gave it his all until the end . .
.”); Comments of August 2005 Issue of TLM (Up Close
with Buck Ormsby, et al); Bo Diddley in Concert (San
Mateo County Fair, San Mateo California (08/18/05); An
Interview with Joe Tybukrczy and Tom Blouin (Members
of Massachusetts’ Mind Patrol during the Late ‘60s);
Paterson’s “Jump, Jive, and Harmonize” (Reviews of
releases by Bobby and Buzz, Daisy Chain, Mojo Gurus,
and the latest issue of “Shindig!”); Ghost Radio
(Short Stack: scene six of an ongoing ‘50s fictional
music adventure); MuzikMan’s Lance Monthly Album Pick
of the Month (“Rhythm of Honor” Various Artists) -
Tu Compadre,
Dick Stewart
