Thanks Dano, Dick & Bill, from Gavin

windanseabeachboy - 12 Dec 2002 18:58:38

As always, I am indebted. I've been checking out the Nebulas laterly,
Dano, and I worship at your (presumably sandaled) feet.
I've got some stuff to work on with the reverb. I just never seem to
get it "wet" enough for my taste. I want it soaking wet.
I found an old Danelectro with amp-in-case today at an antique store.
Guy wanted $250, and it was crappy. But I did so much want to plug it
in and hear it...I didn't have a cable, or I woulda. The tubes lit up
and everything!!!
Gavin
Off to Vegas. Any surf bands playing there this weekend? Maybe a
surprise invasion of Dread Zeppelin? I love those guys. Hmmm...

Yep, I agree, Gavin . . . the Nebulas are awesome! Given the weather here
in Massachusetts lately, I doubt that Dano is sporting the sandals . . .
maybe the wetsuit booties, though.
I agree with Dano - the 6-6-6 setting works wonders for me. Keep in mind
that the treble control also can boost the wetness factor, but the price is
bleeding eardrums and decapitations (oooh - sounds like the 6-6-6 setting is
getting to me . . . ).
Going to Vegas, huh? With your luck, you'll probably rake in enough to buy
a vintage rig complete with '62 Jag, Showman, and reverb tank! Have fun!

I think all this tinkering with gear and the obsession with surf music
started in my early formative years on a christmas when, as I opened my
first Lego set, The Ventures "Sleigh Ride" played on the hi-fi.

Ha ha! That's great, Dano!
For me, it would have been listening to "Sleigh Ride" on AM radio (via the
trusty 9V transistor radio, of course) while trying to figure out why that darn
Lionel train transformer wasn't working (Mom: "Is that smoke I smell?) . . .
