touring Feb 2006

los_twang_marvels - 05 Sep 2005 05:24:20

Hello everybody !
My name is Alex Anthony, Argentinian living in Germany
already 5 years, and guitarist from "Los Twang! Marvels",
(www.twang-marvels.de).
First time on this group, pretty well organized.
Congratulations!
We just released our CD "Guitars in Orbit" on El Toro Records´s Reverb
Series, and are willing to tour a bit around.
We already talked to Eddie Angel of Straitjackets, and with Phil Dirt,
and he specially recomended that I post our request on here.
We will be touring Mexico city and surrounds with Lost Acapulco, great
Mexican Surf band, on February, and it popped out that perhaps would
be a nice opportunity to give California a shot, that would be really
amazing, since we usually play in Europe, precisely Germany a lot.
So if there is any feedback; someone would like to help us with some
gigs we would appreciate it, :)
Thanx a lot, many greetings from Germany, Surf´s up !
Vibes
ALEX

Welcome, Alex!!
Folks, let me give a BIG recommendation for this CD! It's
fantastic! I've been listening to it a lot for the last several
weeks. It's a really nice mix of styles. To my ears the
predominant influence is the Spotnicks (Sweden) and the whole early-
sixties Continental European sound, including the Dutch Indo-Rock.
But there is definitely a surf influence, more of the Tornadoes or
Sentinals kind - more melodic rather than aggressive kind (also
think some of Los Straits's stuff). (They boast of the early-
sixties Latin American instro/surf influence as well, and that's
probably true, but I am simply not familiar with that stuff.)
Anyway, this CD has four covers and nine originals, and is just
great. Very melodic with excellent playing and a truly traditional
sound, not just of instruments but of the whole production as well.
All trad instro/surf lovers will LOVE this! And I hope somebody
gets some US/California dates for this great band, too - you won't
be sorry!
Ivan
and are willing to tour a bit around.
