congrats, that sounds excellent!
unfortunatly, i guess i think these might actually be even harder to find
then a fender in Europe.
What is a good price for a Fender reverb unit? I saw one on E-bay germay for
450 euros, there's another one that strted at 200, but it's going up
fast.....
has anyone ever (anyone on the list, duh) build a reverb-tank or an amp
themselves? and did that work out?

Does Europe have a version of ebay? Or can you use ebay? These things
seem to show up there all the time. Just gotta go have a look-see.

I've been getting a lot of people in Japan begging me to ship stuff

every country has its own ebay here. ebay holland sucks since there were
plenty second-hand sites around allready when ebay was introduced. Ebay
germany is pretty cool, and it's a reasonable drive from where i live. ebay
belgium is small, since belgium is small (as is holland, i have to admit,
just not that small. ask jerry!)
anyway, sending stuff from the US would probably be too expensive.

Not only sending would be expensive, if you are unlucky you'll have to pay
taxes too (count +/- 25%) and making the payment would be a drag (and an
expensive one) if the seller does not accept credit cards or paypal.
PS: I'm working on a home made reverb right now. It is still in an
experimental phase but according to Jerry it already sounds good. Why did
you ask?

roland,
I asked since I've been building some minor stuff with a friend of mine who
is quite handy with a soldering iron, he makes tube audio amps
proffesionally. I've been looking at the schematics for the reverb tank and
the showman amplifier, and well, they're plain simple. I am now in the
proces of figuring out which components effect sound and which not. for
economical reasons obviously. And I'm still wondering whether to go for
fender cosmetics or not.
Anyway, from what i got, building a showman amp that actually looks like a
showman amp is not worth the trouble: buying one second hand is cheaper then
buying the component alone. But my guess is the reverb my be worth trying.
your opinion?

hey, thanks dano,
that will be a showman, two reverb thanks and a '64 chevy then, thank you
very much.
No kidding, I might take you up on the offer. You should come to Europe,
preferably Tilburg, Holland too. I've been telling TFJ the same thing (over
and over and over....)
I'll buy you some wooden shoes in return.

Wannes,
The schematics of a reverb looks quiet simple but building one is something
else. The trouble is that reverb are very prone to hum, buzz and noise and
building a quiet one is a work of art.
If you want more info, mail me directly. Discussing it in Dutch would be a
lot easier.

Hi Wannes,
You will be in good hands with Roland.
He knows reverb!!
He's a great guy and a good guitar player as well.
I had the plesure of meeting him twice and he has helped me out twice
with my Farfisa reverb unit.
He even made it sound better, more splashy. I'm very, very thankfull for
this.
The tube reverb unit he built for himself is quiet a piece of art and it
sounds terrific, even tough it is still in it's experimental phase. It
sounds a lot like a fender but it feels like you got more control.
From what I learned so far from reverb is that it looks simple but it
really isn't. Even if you can read the schematics, got the know how and
the right parts it is still a great adventure to built it and make it
sound right.
P.S.I'm sure looking forward of meeting you as well, we are working on
the double gig in Belguim-Holland :-)
