does anybody play with it?
seems to be a good choice 4 surf?

This is the one with the 15" speaker? I have one...it is a very good clean surf
amp, if you
can tolerate the 80 lb. weight on-and-off the stage and into the trunk. At least
the caster
wheels help.
It has more "boom" to the bass than a standard twin; it also projects extremely
well in a
big room. Not as tight a bass response as a Showman through a ported cabinet,
but a bit
more substantial than a standard twin.
Eighty-five watts is more than adequate power; perhaps too much. It doesn't
start to really
sound great until you hit five or six on the vol. dial; by then, it shakes walls
like a temblor.
You can pull the two outer tubes from their sockets to cut the power. It has
good, not
great, reverb. You'll still want an outboard reverb unit to get wet surf tones.
It responds
well to most pedals, but of course, it doesn't have an effects loop circuit.

I use one with The Dudes. It is a monster. I however play on 8-10 at all
times. At that volume it breaks up very nice however most small clubs sh*t
there pants as soon as I start playing. It is in no way a hurtful volume,
it's loud but it pushes a lot of air not that tin screatchy loud. I could
really use 2 or three at one time to get the sound I want :-) The reverb
does well at that volume... but I find not all onboard fender units are the
same even in the same model amp. Sometimes u get a crappy one. The one I got
works well. The 63 tank is a bit hurtful at the volume I play so I have
started just using guitar and amp...thats it... All in All, it is the amp
for me.
