The Great Kahuna needs ALL our Support NOW!!!

Bruce D (wetreverb) - 28 Aug 2005 15:24:57

I recently heard that Les Perry, The Great Kahuna, has been
suspended from his position as Program Director and Disc Jockey at
KCSN. I have cut and pasted their email sent to Longboard Ranch
this last week.
KCSN's official story is not even close to what I've heard from
other station insiders, and Les's personal friends. It comes down
to petty office politics, and unless there is a collective voice
from Surf Music fans, raised NOW, in protest, it's likely we'll
never again have the opportunity to hear "The Great Kahuna's Green
Rooom" show again!
Here's KCSN's "version" of the story:
"Greetings,
Due to circumstances beyond our control Les Perry Is temporarily
unavailable to present his programming at the present time. In the
short term we are filling his timeslots with other interesting Arts
and Roots programming. We are doing the very best with the situation
that we are presented with. Your continued support of KCSN is
greatly appreciated, as we have not been an NPR affilliate for over
10 years. KCSN is one of the few stations in the Los Angeles market
without an NPR tie-in, and we are proud of that. Our unique
programming is what sets us apart from the rest. I know that you
appreciate that.
Thanks for your comments. They have been duly noted.
Best regards,
Fred
KCSN General Manager" } } THESE ARE THE EMAIL ADDRESSES TO
REGISTER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS
OUTRAGEOUS SITUATION
We received this notice mainly because Longboard Ranch has been a
financial supporter via donations, for several years.
I sent this guy an email, telling him that his story does not agree
with the one I've heard from people I consider to be very honest and
reliable, and that Longboard Ranch support was based on Les Perry
being there, and if they don't bring him and his programs back
pronto, Longboard Ranch will make no further donations in the future.
If having Surf Music on broadcast radio in the SoCal area is of even
the slightest importance to you, the time to register your support
of Les Perry, The Great Kahuna, is RIGHT NOW!!
Best Regards,
Bruce D
