Aloha From Hawaii

Kim Sweeney (swamikim) - 22 Aug 2005 20:20:53

&& ...(stuffs deleted here)...
&& let me an extend an aloha to Kim in Hawaii...
&& the predominantly male world of surf music is always
&& brightened by the addition of yet another woman player/enthusiast.
&& Mahalo,
&& Gavin
Thanks Gavin, for the warm welcome!
I usually get a reception like that,
With the name Kim.
But unfortunately, I am just another
"Old Dude" that loves Surf Music!
I guess I should have properly introduced
Myself before just jumping in to the fray.
I first heard Surf Music in Newport Beach
In 1961, I was about 13 years old.
There was a band outside of a beachhouse,
In the sand along the beach walkway.
The drums, the guitars, the BASS and the
instrumentals, It was love at first encounter.
It has been my lifelong dream to have my own
Surf band, and this has become a reality for me.
We play at Private Parties, a yearly Magic Show
At the Aloha Theater and at the Tiger Espere
Longboard Contest held every winter in Kawaihae.
We are called Solar Wind. Phil Dirt gave us a
Nice review of our only CD ( we only made about
30 of these CD's) that was made up of
Live Recordings from various performances.
His review was very nice, he gave us three stars
On all the instrumental tunes, with very encouraging
Comments. His critical style is nothing but High Class.
He did not "put us down" at all, but we learned from
What he did say!
It was an especially nice review after reading his
Article "How Low the Fi" This has inspired us to go
into a real studio And lay down some real tracks,
we are nearly complete With the project, and look
forward to having a Real CD!
Laterz and Aloha,
Kim Solar Wind
