Re: [SurfGuitar101] Re: Stoked!!!!!! /shut down part II......I know the feeling!!!!

John McCorvey (eddiekatcher) - 19 Aug 2005 14:30:30

I only spent one short afternoon on a long board (mostly off the long board) in
Daytona Beach FL in 1973, but I've paddled whitewater for liteally hundreds of
river runs, dropping probably thousands of vertical feet over the last ten years
or so in an open whitewater canoe. I think I know the feeling......you surfers
are TOUGH though, no helmets, PFD's or paddles, just waves, boards, reefs, and
sharks.......My original "surf" tunes often wind up with river running titles
such as Patton's Run, Table Saw, Paddle or Die! and Boofin' (At Baby Falls),
to name a few.....usually drawn from running rapids of the same name.......And
of course one of my faves, Nichol Beer, for old bud 044..........best to all,
and hey, it's raining here in Atlanta, the rivers are up, lets to
boating!!!!!!.............eddie k (half the paddle-twice the boater) open boats
rule......

coming from a surfing background, the two instrumentals that capture
the feeling of surfing for me are 'stoked' and 'pipeline'. i can feel
those tunes when i'm in the water. it's hard to explain. the surf
company billabong has a saying "only a surfer knows the feeling".....i
too have always liked shut down part II......carol
