stopped by ELWOODS in Delray Beach Florida
hung out with a great local band, THE DILLENGERS
and got to hear 2 great sets of outdoor wide-ranging twang
wide-ranging in that they covered early Beatles, 'hillbilly' (i.e., 'rockabilly'
-- 2 great tunes that I know via ROBERT GORDON, "Rockabilly Boogie", "Red Hot"),
blues, and some great reverb-drenched surf as well (covers of a lot of familiar
classics everyone knows...some originals too)
particular love ASTROGLIDING from their CD - plan on playing it soon on one of
my shows - maybe both?
but I must tell you about a classic once-in-a-lifetime moment....I am in Florida
for a few days with my daughter (yeah escaping the heat in NYC by going to
Florida in August---what's up with that?) -- first night we are staying with my
Brother's Wife's Brother's family (did you follow that?) -- their son Eric, 10
years old, is just learning how to play electric guitar (he has an IBANEZ for
God's sake!); I hooked him up with Rick of the DILLENGERS; next thing you
know, Eric is cranking out the opening notes to SECRET AGENT MAN with a wet
reverb tank humming loudly....thought I was gonna drop on the spot; got some
great pictures of this moment and will post them as soon as I can on

twang it---and odds are if I am in the neighborhood, I will show up!
and watching kids groove to surf music (after all, that's how it started for me
and many of us, right?) -- well, it gives my heart and soul a good hug
