New song

Shawn Martin (drumuitar) - 14 Aug 2005 15:59:46

On the advice of Ivan, here's a new surf tune I recorded for your
listening and dancing pleasure. Since I recorded this, I got in some
new equipment that is much better than the Guitar Port I used for
this...so I'm going to redo it eventually. As anyone who records with
a PC knows, Soundblaster type cards are lousy for recording more than
a couple tracks. This has 7 and I used some outboard reverb along
with it. The sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. Anyhoo, I'd
appreciate any comments :-) (no, there's no drums on this one either)

Life is short. Play for the music. Wear your heart on your sleeve.

keep me in constant touch with my limitations

WOW Shawn!
That is one cool, KILLER surf tune. I loved listening to it, and I would be
totally proud to have written that song myself!!!!! Don't Stop - you've
obviously got the magic touch!!!!

The sound quality sounded fine to me.
I kinda enjoyed the song. But it sounded like an exercise in theme
and variations. Like the purpose of writing the song was to see how
many different ways you could state the theme in a different way.
Of course since there was no chorus it seemed necessary to restate
the theme differently each time in order for it to not be too
monotonous..
Plus I'm not so fond of instrumental songs that for the most part
have the theme stated chordally even when using arpeggios, I much
prefer single note theme lines, tho one of the times you stated the
theme it was more along those lines..
