Dumb Angel #4

Cajuna Gabensma (kawentzmann) - 14 Aug 2005 14:18:38

Domenic Priore here... dig this; Brian Chidester and I just put out the first
issue of my 'zine
since 1989... fuckin' A... it's called:
Dumb Angel #4: All Summer Long
In there, we've got heap big stories on how Surf music initially developed
through things
used in 1950s and 1960s Surf movies (a new concept!), a South Bay Surf band
family tree
drawn by the old Zig Zag guy -- Peter Frame, a complete 1964/1965 Brian Wilson
sessionography, artists John Van Hamersveld and Shag both write for us in here
too,
there's Exotica stuff and a thing on Phil Spector during 1956/1966. Lots of
Surf
instrumental... I think you'll dig it. (www.dumbangelmagazine.com)
If you can pass the info about this to your list, that would be hot! Enclosed
is a list of San
Francisco and Los Angeles shops that are carrying it, otherwise, it's available
at the
website too.
San Francisco: City Lights Bookstore, A Clean & Well Lighted Place for Books,
Green Apple
Books, Valencia Street Books, Amoeba Records, Aqua, Booksmith, Anibus, Groove
Merchant, Naked Eye, Open Mind Music, Cody's Books (Berkeley), Mod Lang
(Berkeley),
Down Home Music (El Cerrito), Village Music (Mill Valley)
Los Angeles: Book Soup and Meltdown Comics (Sunset Strip), Hollywood Book &
Poster
(Hollywood Blvd.), Freakbeat Records (Sherman Oaks), 8-Ball (Burbank), Skylight
Books and
Soap Plant/Wacko (Los Feliz), Serifos (Silver Lake), Anti-Market and 33 1/3
Books
Collective (Echo Park), Vroman's Books and Poo Bah Records (Pasadena), Jack's
Surfboards
and Huntington Surf & Sport (Huntington Beach) and the Rhino/Duck Soup store in
West
Los Angeles.
Thanks!

The issue also contains an article called "Dick Dale & His Del-Tones
Rule L.A., 1961-63" which should be interesting.
