Re: Waves.

Mike Gottlieb (mgb76guy) - 02 Aug 2005 08:01:32

Hey Group,
A band that really tries(and Succeeds) to marry genres id the
Hillbilly Soul Surfers. A personal Fave. They incorporate pedal steel,
Guitorgan, Tex Mex, Spy stuff, slow some things down, etc. They do an
awesome version of Hillbilly Pipeline, a great Soul Penetration. They
are a bit all over the map but a rawkous good time. Their CD is called
Hot Damn, Bobo and its a definate roadtrip Cd in my car. So if you are
looking for a CD a tidgy bit different try and find it. Or go see em
play in LA sometime.

The Hillybilly Soul Surfers really are great. I've seen 'em many times. I also
play in a band with their bass player.

Well that means that 2/3rds of the Hillybillys will be playing the
big Hunington Beach Pier show this weekend! The guitar player will be
playing bass (Halibuts) and the bass player will be playing guitar
(Boardwalkers).

Marty,
Didn't Pete Curry play drums in the Hillbillys? And isn't he going to
play guitar in the Halibuts this weekend? If so even if Pete isn't
currently playing in the Hillbillys I think that makes it 'closer' to
a 3 out of 3 Hillbillys playing the Huntington Pier this weekend.
I wonder if the surf scenes anywhere else are as incestuous as it is
out her in So. Ca. :-)

P.S. Marty you might be the biggest offender of all.. Don't you
currently play either Guitar, Bass or Drums in 4 different bands?
But really that's not all that impressive, after all you're not
playing keyboards or even banjo in any..:-)

Incest? Hillbillys? Naaahhh.
Just because some folks been livin' up the hollar too long, don't
necessarily mean they're gonna start in to shivaree'n their own kin...

Ah yes, that does make it closer to 3/3rds of the Hillbillys. We'll split the
diff and call it 5/6th's.
