Re: [SurfGuitar101]Surf music on TV (was Varatones on MTV)

Richard (errant_jedi) - 28 Jul 2005 08:22:22

I've noticed more and more in commercials and
television shows the amount of surf rock I hear, and
the quality of it seems to be going up; as if the song
I'm hearing is actually being played by a surf band
instead of a studio musician through the board. I
always notice and pick out surf in television but I've
heard a few things in commercials lately that don't
sound "canned" like most have in the past. I think
that Dick's Nissan campaign has also led some other
car companies to run surf tracks in their commercials,
which I heard an example of last night but don't
remember what company it was for.
Richard

You're right, Richard.
And I think it was Toyota with The Volcano's "Whirlpool" as the theme.
Cool, eh?
