Re: [SurfGuitar101] Re: Mosrite Dealers?/Wilson Bros. "copy"

John McCorvey (eddiekatcher) - 27 Jul 2005 19:58:38

I have one of the Wilson Bros "Mosrite copies" and
it's OK...... It's nicely made and finished and I've
set it up to play like butter but it lacks
something....I think it lacks character.....If you
pick up a Strat, it plays/feels and sounds like a
Strat. The same goes for a Tele, Jaguar or my all
time fave, the Jazzmaster. Each in their own way have
a certain personality. The Wilson Bros is kinda like
a Gibson in that it's cool and it's sweet playing but
not inspiring, if you catch my drift....However it is
reasonably priced and it does look cool and it feels
good to hold it so......for around $450 it's probably
not a bad second guitar to carry out to a gig... I
plan to drop a set of Vintage RI Jaguar Pickups in it
and see what falls out....Probably replace the pots
with 500K or 1 Megs and try to make an "improvement".
I'll keep everyone posted. Best Reverbs, Eddie (the
tinkerer) Katcher

The best Wilson Bros. guitars are the unreasonably priced VCM 2003 and the even
more unreasonably priced VCM 2002. I don't go for the VM-75 or 65 but others
swear by 'em. They are coming out with a VM-110 that looks very good and will
sell for about 600 - 700 clams.
