Well, adhering to this logic, just imagine how many more people
would be dancing and enjoying the music if you made your music sound
a bit more top 40 - you know, throw in a bit more Destiny's Child or
50 Cent or Coldplay. In fact, maybe if you just go the full top-40-
cover-band route, you'll REALLY get them on the floor, shaking it!
Throw in some seventies disco hits, and forget about it!
Look, I really don't mean to be a jerk, but I have been wondering
for some time now why exactly are you on this list? It seems that
nobody really wants to know about Eric Johnson and all the noodlers
here, which you resent. You also are bothered by the fact that most
people ON THE LIST NAMED SURF GUITAR 101 want to use only Fenders
amd reverb units and have a rather narrow definiton of surf music.
It doesn't seem that you value the contributions made by the members
here, most of who you clearly consider way too narrow-minded, and it
also doesn't seem that anybody else values the contributions you are
making. So, I'm just curious why you continue to stick around and
post messages that make you sound increasingly frustrated with the
list? At some point it just seems masochistic...
Anyway, by no means do I mean to tell you to take a hike or anything
of the kind, but it seems that you should accept which way the wind
is blowing on this list and stop admonishing and putting people down
for being more traditional in their surf music tastes. Nothing wrong
with voicing your opinion, but let's be cool about it...

Guess what?
WE DO. And we make it work. We even throw in a James Brown funk
breakdown. HORRORS! Oh, and don't forget our little tip of the hat
to The White Stripes and The Doors! THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!!!

There's very few "contributions", just rehash of the same garbage
over and over again by "traditionalists" who are doing little to
nothing about evolving surf music out of 1963, and getting it out
into a post 2000 world. I highly respect the opinions of people who
can take the music beyond where they found it, without being hitched
to narrowmindedness of the past. Dave Wronski is a great example of
that. While he's a traditionalist, gear-wise, but he doesn't push
that as a requirement on anyone who wants to learn surf.
It's SURF GUITAR 101, not "Surf Guitar 101 (WELCOME... but only if
you have a REAL outboard reverb tank, a Jazzmaster with flatwounds, a
Dual Showman, and only if you don't play anything written after 1964)"
So, I'm just curious why you continue to stick around and

And I think you should just get used to the fact that I'm here to
stir things up and make a few people realize that it's 2005, not
1963. Be as traditional and narrow minded as you like, and let me be
as untraditional and open minded as I like, capiche?

Get over yourself and free your mind. Life's too short. Don't look
back, it distracts from the now.

I think this is what Ivan was getting at. Your being offensive!
Calling the guy narrow minded isn't going to help the situation.

[I think it would be very useful for all members of this fine list
to read the above lines to figure out what Red Thunder's true views
and intentions are. I believe there is a word for this kind of
internet behavior - is it 'troll'?]
Red Thunder, man, you must have a LOT of time on your hands to be
hanging out on lists where you find nothing worthwhile, your only
goal being basically to piss people off.... I wish I had that sort
of time...
And BTW, congratulations for writing a post that almost guarantees
that 90%+ of the subscribers to this list will add you to
their 'block-email' list and ignore you from now on. Good job.

Come to think of it, Red Thunder, it's not so hard to be speaking
with such boldness when you're hiding under a fake name. You also
often mention your band and how YOU guys do it RIGHT! Well, why
don't you tell us your real name, your location and the name of your
band? Let's see if you're still so bold when people will know
exactly who you are, and can come hear and see you play.... So,
what's it gonna be? Are you gonna be a man or keep hiding? I'm
very curious....

Its Dave Rosenberg! Or at the very least Dick Dale's ungrateful
younger brother who was always in the shadow of his big brother.
