Warmoth Custom Mustang Bridge

-=Dan Ware=- - 21 Nov 2002 14:13:55

Hey everyone,
Well, I just got my new '63 Jaguar back from my guitar tech. I love it
when a good guitar can be made to sound BETTER.
Turns out the pickups had been installed in the wrong positions and were
out of phase. Fixed that up, and gave the neck a nice washdown. Turns out
what I thought were EXTREMELY dark clay dots were just out and out filthy.
Tweaked the neck for flatwound .11s, and removed the stock threaded
saddle bridge and replaced it with one of these custom warmoth jobs.
In a nutshell, the Warmoth Custom Mustang bridge was designed to give you
the added quality of the mustang bridge over the stock jaguar or jazzmaster
bridge, but also allow for controlling the radius by allowing the player to
raise and lower the four outermost saddles (string height).
Warmoth did this by tapping two small setscrews into each saddle.
I only actually had to adjust two of the saddles, and in fact, the high E
saddle had to be ground down on the bottom of it, because even at its lowest
position it was still too high. So the jury is still out on the Warmoth
bridge. I guess if you're into tweaking your guitar to the point of
individual string heights, then you'll have the gumption to take the saddle
off and grind it as well.
Also, I have a couple of auctions running on Ebay for amps. Here they
are:
Twin Reverb:
Dual Showman Reverb:

Great info Dan, thank you.
In its defense, I believe the Warmoth bridge was designed to work with
their compound radius necks. This would explain why, on a stock
Fender neck, the outer saddles may have to go lower than they were
designed for.
Can't wait to hear the "new" Jag on the Nebulas' next one!
