I thought this might be of interest of those of you
out there that are more into the
experimental/pushing-the-boundaries-of-what-can-be-called-surf
kind of bands. After practice with my rock/metal band
(help) last night the drummer, knowing that I'm into
"all that surf stuff" told me that there was a band I
absolutely had to check out that was playing that
night. I showed up just in time to catch the last
song of this band's set. Subversivo - very non trad,
very sax-driven, periodic metal screaming. It wasn't
exactly my cup 'o tea, but hey, around here I'll take
the reverb wherever I can get it. I didn't catch all
the guitar players affects, but his style switches
pretty often throughout the songs.
With any luck I'll be coming back with a show report
on The Surge at Will Henry's outside of Atlanta
tomorrow.
