Hi All, I recently submitted a question to the tech dept. @
tubesandmore.com about whether certain tubes break up at higher levels
than others. This is in reference to my amp - a '66 pro reverb - but I
believe most Fenders use 6L6's and 12AX7's so it should be universal.
Here's his response for anyone interested:
For a 6L6GC that breaks up later than other tubes, and has a clean
tone, we suggest the JJ tubes, from Slovakia.
The 12AX7 from JJ has slightly less gain than the Russian or Chinese
versions, and is favored by lots of players looking for a clean tone as
well.
I think you might have success starting with the JJs.
