another interesting compositional technique is to use
"altered" bass lines...playing "related" bass notes instead
of "root" bass notes...
for example:
on guitar play these chords: G C D
on bass play: C F A or G F D or G C A
from the bassline, you can develop new guitar chord
sequences...
